Art Quake Kyoto is an initiative to provide a platform for artists for the global exchange of creative talents and ideas.  International artists will discover and interact with the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Kyoto, which is one of the most unique and interesting art capitals of the world. Likewise, in attracting diverse works of art from known and respected artists worldwide, this event also brings to Kyoto and its residents a multi-cultural experience as well as showcase Kyoto and its myriad artistic treasures to the world thru a Juried International Art Exhibition.

Art Quake has been held in various art capitals in the world including Istanbul.  Ultimately, the goal of Art Quake is to hasten Peace thru art by inspiring people around the globe through the creative expressions of international artists as showcased in the exhibitions.

The name of "Kyoto" was formally and originally "Hei-An-Kyo" (Capital of Peace) and rightly so as we celebrate another edition of Art Quake in this ancient city.
